Women are the backbone of the tribal communities, weaving our ideas, community, and culture by empowering one another in every way. We help our Elders and teach our young. We support our men and honor our ancestors. Giving of our time and talents to help our at our pow wow and all other Tribal gatherings, practicing and teaching ceremonial etiquette, making regalia, maintaining the tribal grounds; ensuring that our Native plants thrive, women’s drumming and singing circles, inspiring our young Cherokees by passing down our traditions, history and craftwork in order to preserve our culture for the next generation, and continuing to learn our history and practice our sacred traditions are all ways that tribal women remain the keeper of stories and the carriers of sacred traditions.
